Our experiences

We perceive the Kooikerhondje as a cheerful, sensitive, and attentive social partner, who is open to people and maintains a friendly interaction with other dogs.

We now own the 6th Kooikerhondje in a row. No Hondje is like the other. Kooikerhondjes are individuals who come with different backgrounds. One Kooikerhondje might be more like its mother, while another might take after its father. One Kooikerhondje might be lively, while another is a bit calmer. One might be more cuddly, while another prefers to retreat.

All our Kooikerhondjes, past and present, share one thing in common: they have a gentle nature and a strong desire to please humans. They naturally make an effort to understand what we want from them and try their best to fulfill our expectations. Recognition and praise serve as great motivators for them.

When a Kooikerhondje puppy joins us, we always observe and take note of its inherent traits. Whether it is outgoing or reserved, demanding or shy, whether it eagerly approaches people or prefers to seek shelter behind our legs during human interactions, and so on. For us, it is important that Kooikerhondjes open-hearted, affectionate towards people, playful, willing to work and friendly towards other dogs.

With a Kooikerhondje puppy, our main focus is on practicing social interaction with people. We believe that the more positive experiences Kooikerhondjes have with human beings, the stronger their relationship with them will beTo ensure the puppy becomes a socially well-adjusted companion, we encourage interactions with other socially compatible dogs. We take them to dog parks, dog events, and visit acquaintances who also have well-behaved dogs. Wir sind Verfechter von unkontrolliertem Spielen mit Hunden, die wir nicht kennen, um negative Erfahrungen mit Artgenossen auszuschliessen. We do not allow dogs to play uncontrolled with other dogs to prevent negative experiences.

For us, the basis of a trusting relationship with our dogs is loving consistency, where they understand and accept their own limits. We aim to provide our dogs with security, freedom, and the opportunity to make mistakes, as well as the chance to learn from them.
