4th week
Little by little, new milestones are being reached. The puppies are now confidently leaving their whelping box and exploring the adjoining enclosure. Social interaction has become an important part of their daily routine, with plenty of play, communication, and curiosity on display.
Our 1½-year-old female, Angel, is allowed to join the puppies for short visits. Alva remains completely relaxed during these encounters and also calmly accepts the presence of our other dogs in the whelping room. Her patient, gentle, and self-assured nature makes her an exemplary mother.
From the fourth week onward, a natural change takes place: the mother dog’s milk production gradually decreases and no longer fully meets the puppies’ increasing energy requirements. The weaning process therefore begins slowly and carefully, with the puppies being introduced to additional food appropriate for their age and development.
